Certificate Program
Overview

The Training Institute for Integrative Psychotherapy is a specialized educational program of Noeticus Counseling Center and Training Institute providing post-graduate training for mental health clinicians. We offer a variety of innovative and cutting edge learning opportunities for mental health professionals that are rooted in the somatic, expressive, and contemplative traditions.

In particular, we offer a two year post-graduate Certificate Program in movement-oriented, body-centered approaches to psychotherapy. The inaugural class is slated to begin in the summer of 2012.

The Certificate Program is designed for individuals who have already completed a master's degree in a mental health discipline and who want to receive additional training in movement-oriented, body-centered approaches to psychotherapy.

The Certificate Program can be taken as a sequenced course of study that is divided into specific modules over a two year period of time, although it is also possible to take each of the various classes separately with prior approval by the Institute director. An individual who successfully completes all the requirements for the Certifcate Program are qualified to become a Certified Somatic Arts Therapist™ (CSAT™).

In addition, if taken as a sequenced course of study, the Certificate Program is designed to meet alternate route requirements to earn the credential of a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT) with the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA), as a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT) with the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA), and as a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist (RSMT) with the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA).

Application Process

General Information

All programs with the Training Institute for Integrative Psychotherapy are designed for mental health professionals who already have a master's degree in their respective disciplines and who are seeking specialized training in somatic, creative, and mindfulness based approaches to psychotherapy beyond their degree.

In order to maintain the advanced caliber of the Certificate Program and the Individual Courses within it, all program participants are required to complete and submit an application documenting their credentials and their readiness for post-master's training. All applicants are required to have the following:
  • Master's degree in a mental health discipline verified by official transcript
  • Medical Clearance Certificate
  • 45 contact hours of basic anatomy
  • 45 contact hours of basic kinesiology
  • Three letters of recommendation
Two Year Certificate Program Application

The next Two Year Certificate Program begins in June 2011. Application deadlines are due by March 31, 2012. In order to maintain the optimal balance between didactic and experiential learning participation is limited and interested applicants are encouraged to apply early. Individual Course Application

All courses within the Certificate Program are also available to a limited number of participants as individual courses. In general, these spaces are reserved for participants who are pursuing Alternate Route registration or who have a specialized interest in a particular area. Application deadlines for individual courses are due two months prior to the start of the course. Applications for participation in individual courses can be downloaded here.
